Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. In addition to Wednesday, it is also the 73rd Birthday of English keyboardist, Rick Wakeman. Happy Birthday Rick! Rick is a renowned solo artist as well as a member of the progressive rock band Yes. It is their fifth studio album, close To The Edge, that is turning our our table today. Close To The Edge was released September 13, 1972 on the Atlantic label and produced by the band with Eddy Offord. It peaked at #36 in Germany, #21 in Australia, #16 in Japan, #7 in Canada, #4 in the UK, #3 on the Billboard 200, and #1 in the Netherlands. Two singles were released from Platinum selling disc ; "And You and I (Part I) with Part II as it's B-side and then an edited version of the two that reached #76 in Canada, and #42 on the Hot 100. This album marked the last for drummer Bill Bruford, who left to join King Crimson and was replaced by Alan White of the Plastic Ono Band.
