Good morning (Ash) Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today our record of choice is The Seven Deadly Sins by progressive rockers Plus. The LP (their only one) was released in 1969 on ABC's Probe label and produced by Ray Singer and Simon Napier-Bell. Ray Singer was a singer himself in the early 60s and went on to found Singer Records and Simon Napier-Bell managed bands like the Yardbirds, Marc Bolan, Ultravox, Wham!, and others. The Plus album was their brainchild and is a progressive/pop rock concept record that covers the 7 deadly sins in song. The musicians listed on the album are Brothers Tony (guitar) and Mike (drums) Newman, with Max Simms on bass. The record does not list who the vocalist is, the choir, the violinist, the cellist, the organist, etc. The band never played a gig and there was no promotion for the album. Each song sounds like it belongs on a different album, running the gamut from Latin chanting to pop rock in the vein of Badfinger.
