Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning Friday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Our record of choice today is Motorcycle Mama, by Southern /Country Rock band, Sailcat. The LP was released in May 1972 on Elektra Records and produced by the group's two guitarists, John Wyker and Pete Carr. The record reached #46 in Canada and #38 on the Billboard 200. It's singles were the title track (#64 Australia, #14 Canada, #12 Hot 100), "She Showed Me" (#115 Hot 100) and "Baby Ruth" (did not chart). The album's artwork is by page favorite Jack Davis, who not only does the front cover but has 13 additional drawings on the inside of the gatefold. The pictures tell the story of the songs, a loose concept album about a motorcycle bum who meets a Motorcycle Mama and eventually settles down into a chair while his woman hangs laundry and his child tends the garden. This album was purchased within the last couple of years at Jesse Carl Vinyl, here in Lakeland.
