Good morning record enthusiasts and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we celebrate the 68th Birthday of Louisiana born bassist, Rustee Allen. He his best known for his work with the funk band, Sly And The Family Stone, replacing original bassist Larry Graham, after he left to form Graham Central Station. We'd be remiss if we failed to mention, that in addition to Rustee's Birthday, Sunday is Sly Stone's 77th Birthday, so with these two in mind we spotlight their 6th studio recording, Fresh. Fresh was released June 30, 1973 on Epic Records and produced by Sly Stone. It peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the R&B charts. The single, "If You Want Me to Stay" reached #12 on the Hot 100, and "Frisky" reached #79.
