Good morning Thursday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we celebrate the 71st Birthday of Bill Payne, pianist and co-founder of Southern rock boogie band, Little Feat . Happy Birthday Bill ! With him in mind, we spotlight the group's first live album. the double LP, Waiting For Columbus. Waiting For Columbus was released February 10, 1978 on the Warner Bros. label and produced by lead vocalist and guitarist Lowell George, (formerly of Mothers of Invention). It peaked at #18 on the Billboard 200. The material was recorded over the span of 7 nights in 1977 and the band is backed by the Tower Of Power horn section. The band disbanded in 1979 shortly before George's death and was reformed about a decade later by Payne, and is still active. Payne is the only original member left.
