Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today is National Florida Day, the day set aside to recognize Florida's arrival into the Union in 1845. To commemorate the date, we shine a light on this 1982 album produced by Sea World Of Florida, Inc. Florida Festival Presents Starsong is an album featuring the husband and wife duo, Joel and Tracey Balin. It was recorded by by Rainbow Productions, in Orlando, Florida. Florida Festival was an upscale bazaar like attraction that sat across from Sea World. Inside the tent like building tourists would find carnival type foods, clowns, magicians, air conditioning and the sorts. They had a restaurant called ‘Al E. Gators’, that included a poor soul wandering around in a plush alligator costume, which can be seen on this album's back cover. The attraction closed in 1986 when book publishers, Harcourt, Brace, Javonovich (HBJ) bought Sea World and all of it's holdings. The album sees Starsong tear through renditions of the day including songs by The Supremes, The Beach Boys, the Eagles, and more. The bassist for the group, Chip Peters, would go on play with the Christian rock band Petra. Tracey, who changed the spelling of her name to Trace released several solo Christian albums before moving to Georgia with her husband Joel who is the senior pastor of CrossBridge Church in Marietta, GA.
