Today we joyfully celebrate the 79th Birthday of Harlem born blues musician, singer songwriter, multi - instrumentalist, actor and record producer, Taj Mahal. Happy Birthday Taj ! He released his self titled debut album in 1968 on Columbia records. The disc was produced by Bob Irwin and David Rubinson. On it Taj covers Sonny Boy Williamson II, Robert Johnson, Sleepy John Estes, as well as Blind Willie McTell's "Statesboro blues" which is said to have inspired The Allman Brothers Band recording.
