Good Sunday morning, morning people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. today we remember Wisconsin born jazz clarinetist, saxophonist, singer, and big band leader, Woody Herman, on what would have been his 108th Birthday. Woody passed away in 1987, age 74, cardiac arrest. Today's record is this 1981 Insight Records compilation, The Great American Dance Bands: Woody Herman, 1937-1944. My beautiful Wife Lynn, actually saw Woody Herman about a year before his death, right here at the Lakeland Civic Center. I'll include a photo of her ticket. Much to my surprise, The Woody Herman Orchestra is still active and currently led by Frank Tiberi.
