Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember Saratoga, Texas native, musician, singer, and songwriter, George Jones, on this, the 10th anniversary of his death. He was born September 12, 1931 to parents George Washington Jones, a shipyard worker and Clara Jones, who played piano at the Pentecostal Church. He passed away in 2013, age 81, from respiratory failure. To mark the occasion we spotlight this collaboration album from him and his Wife, Tammy Wynette. We Go Together was released October 18, 1971 on Epic Records and produced by Billy Sherrill. It peaked at #169 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Top Country Albums chart. The album's sole single was "Take Me" (#12 Canadian Country, #9 Hot Country Songs). This was Jones' first album on the Epic label, his first with Tammy Wynette, and his first produced by Sherrill. This is another one of our 'naked' albums as it lives in our collection but doesn't have a cover. I'll post a stock photo so we know what it looks like.
