STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - THE BUCKAROOS - THE BUCK OWENS SONGBOOK

Good Tuesday morning to you all and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today is a two for Tuesday of sorts as we remember Sherman, Texas native, country musician, singer, songwriter, and band leader, Buck Owens, who would have celebrated his 94th Birthday on Saturday  (August 12, 1929 – March 25, 2006) and his best friend and bandmate, Don Rich, would have celebrated his 82nd Birthday today (August 15, 1941 – July 17, 1974). Don was born in Olympia, Washington and along with Buck Owens he is credited in helping create that West Coast country sound known as  the Bakersfield sound. He died in 1974, age 32, as a result of a motorcycle accident. His death is said to have effected Owens for many years to come. Today we have then both on the debut album from Buck's backing band, The Buckaroos. The Buck Owens Song Book was released in 1966 on the Capitol label and was produced by Ken Nelson and directed by Don Rich. It peaked at #10 on the Top Country Albums chart and featured strictly instrumental versions Buck's most popular songs of that day. This is one of the "naked" albums that lives in our collection, as it is missing it's cover, but I'll post a stock photo, so we know what it looks like ...
