Today we remember Detroit born tenor, songwriter, vocal arranger, musician, and record producer, Lawrence Payton, best known for his work with The Four Tops, on what would have been his 83 Birthday. He died in 1997, age 59, from liver cancer. Catfish, the 19th studio album by The Four Tops, was released in 1976 on ABC Records and was produced by Lawrence Payton. It peaked at #124 on the Billboard 200 and #26 on the R&B charts. The title track was released as a single and reached #80 in Canada, #71 on the Hot 100, and #7 on the R&B charts.
