Great Monday morning gang and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember Gleason, Tennessee native, Air Force Veteran, tenor vocalist, and founding member of the vocal quartet, The Jordanaires, Gordon Stoker, on this, the 10th anniversary of his passing. He was born August 3, 1924 and passed away in 2013, age 88, after a long illness. During the group's 60 plus year career, they provided backup for such greats acts as Elvis, Patsy Cline, Red Foley, Hank Snow, Eddy Arnold and others. Today we have them backing Jake Hess on this 1963 Songs Of Faith Records release, The Great Voice Of Jake Hess Of The Statesmen Quartet by Jake Hess and The Jordanaires. Our copy has been autographed by Jake Hess, Gary McSpadden, and Armand Morales. The latter two were bandmembers of The Imperials, along with Jake Hess. The Jordanaires disbanded following Stoker's death, as was his request.
