Good Tuesday morning to you all and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember San Francisco born banjoist, guitarist, folk singer, songwriter, arranger, Dave Guard, best known for his work in the folk rock outfit, The Kingston Trio, on what would have been his 87th Birthday. He died in 1991, age 56, from lymphoma. We remember him in absentia , as Guard had already left the group at the time of the Trio's 21st album, Somethin' Else. John Stewart was his replacement. (No, not the unfunny comedian). The LP was released in November 1965 on the Decca label. It was their first album to use a backing band and their first not to chart, even though it's a great album to listen to. I particularly like the album's lead track and only single, "Parchment Farm Blues" and I can hear where it may have influenced up and coming garage rock bands ...
