Good morning Sunday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember Roanoke, Virginia native, country music singer, guitarist, and composer, Lew DeWitt (Lewis "Lew" Calvin DeWitt Jr.), best known as the original tenor and founding member of The Statler Brothers, on what would have been his 85th Birthday. He was born in 1938 and was a member of the group from 1955 until 1982, when he took a leave of absence due to surgery and treatment for Crohn's disease. He was replaced by Jimmy Fortune. DeWitt passed away August 15, 1990 from heart and kidney disease brought on by the Crohn's. He was 52. Today we have him and his other 'brothers' on this 2 disc compilation. The LPs were released in 1977 on Realm Records and covers their 70s output.
