Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember original Three Dog Night bassist, Joe Schermie, on what would have been his 74th Birthday. A heart attack claimed his life in 2002, age 56. With him in mind, we spotlight Three Dog Night's second album, Suitable For Framing. The LP was released June 11, 1969 on the Dunhill label and produced by Gabriel Mekler. It peaked at #16 on the Billboard 200 and #15 in Canada. Three singles were released ; "Easy To Be Hard" (#4 Hot 100, #2 Canada), "Eli's Coming" (#190 Hot 100, #4 Canada) and "Celebrate" (#15 Hot 100, #8 Canada). It has been certified Gold in the US. The record consists mostly of covers, including Sam Cooke, Elton John, and Laura Nyro, and our original pressing with the gate-fold contains a picture of the band wearing greasepaint make-up and posing with members of Pamela Des Barres' Girls Together Outrageously, an all-girl group, produced by Frank Zappa.
