Good morning record enthusiasts and welcome back to the Sunday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember English drummer and co founder of progressive rock band Traffic, Jim Capaldi, on what would have been his 76th Birthday. He died in 2005, age 60, of stomach cancer. To honor his legacy, we spotlight the sixth studio album by Traffic, Shoot Out At The Fantasy Factory. Shoot Out At The Fantasy Factory was released February 1973 on the Island label and produced by Steve Winwood. It peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200 and #2 in Canada. No singles were released from the Gold certified disc. Four members of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section (David Hood, Roger Hawkins, Barry Beckett, and Jimmy Johnson) appear on the album, which is quite an enjoyable listen. Capadi and Winwood weave a superb musical tapestry here. I can only imagine the absence of Dave Mason contributed to the greatness of the album.
