STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - THE PAJAMA GAME - VARIOUS ARTISTS

Good Monday morning gang and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember New York born lyricist, writer, composer and Broadway producer Richard Adler, on what would have been his 99th Birthday. He passed away in 2012, age 90. With him in mind, we find ourselves spinning the Original Motion Picture Sound Track to "The Pajama Game". The film and soundtrack were both released in August 1957, with the music being released on  the Columbia Masterworks ‎label. The movie directed and produced by  George Abbott and Stanley Donenm featuring the music of Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, starred  Doris Day, John Raitt, Carol Haney, Eddie Foy Jr., and Barbara Nichols. The story centers around Raitt and Day's characters, Side and Babe. Sid is a newly hired superintendent of the Sleeptite Pajama Factory who falls in love with a factory worker named Babe. The pair become a workplace couple trying to navigate the choppy waters of employee union verses management. The cast of the film provide the talent for the soundtrack.

On a side note, John Raitt was Bonnie Raitt's Father.
