It was on this day in 1973, that Long Beach based soul-funk-jazz- fusion band WAR, started a two week run at #1 on Billboard's album chart with their fifth record, The World Is a Ghetto. The LP was released in November of 1972, on the United Artists label and produced by Jerry Goldstein with Lonnie Jordan and Howard E. Scott. The title track (#7 Hot 100, #3 R&B) and "The Cisco Kid" (#5 R&B, #2 Hot 100) were released as singles.
