STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - WAYLON JENNINGS & WILLIE NELSON - WAYLON & WILLIE

Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember Littlefield, Texas native, singer, songwriter, and outlaw country musician, Waylon Jennings on what would have been his 85th Birthday. He was born in 1937 and passed away  February 13, 2002, age 64, from complications of diabetes. We honor his legacy with this duets album with Willie Nelson. Waylon & Willie was released January 1978 on the RCA Victor label and was produced by Waylon and Willie. The LP spent 126 weeks on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart with 10 of those weeks at #1. It also crossed over to the Hot 100, peaking at #12, as well as landing on Canadian charts (RPM Top Albums #11, RPM Country Albums #7). Two singles were issued ; "The Wurlitzer Prize (I Don't Want to Get Over You)" (#1 Hot Country Songs , #1 Canadian RPM Country Tracks)  and "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys" (#36 Canadian RPM Country Tracks, #15 tHot Country Songs) The latter is the first country song I remember hearing  as a child. Other notable tracks on the album are a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Gold Dust Woman" and Kris Kristofferson's "Don't Cuss the Fiddle", which shares the same arrangement as Waylon's song "Good Hearted Woman", which the duo segue into near the end of the track.
