Good morning gang and welcome to the return of Saturday's Singles. First up under our needle is a single from Detroit born singer, songwriter, and guitarist Bob Seger. Today he is celebrating his 78th Birthday and we are celebrating it by spinning , "Old Time Rock and Roll". The song was written by George Jackson, Thomas E. Jones III, and Bob Seger. It was then produced by Seger and the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. It hails from his 10th studio album, Stranger in Town and was released March of 1979 on the Capitol label. It reached #48 in New Zealand, #34 on the Cash Box, #31 in Canada, and #28 on the Hot 100. It is b/w "Till It Shines, from the same LP. The song has affixed itself as a pop culture phenomenon, appearing in films, televisions, commercials, and video games.

It's parent album, 2 Hot, was the duo's 4th one and the song was also released in March of 1979. It peaked at #8 in Australia, #4 in the UK and on Billboard's Adult Contemporary charts, #3 in Ireland, #2 in the Netherlands and New Zealand, and #1 on the Canadian Singles chart, the Canadian Adult Contemporary survey, in Spain, on the Hot 100, the Cash Box, and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
