Good morning gang and welcome back to the return of Saturday's Singles. First up under our needle the song, "Tour de France" by the German electronic band, Kraftwerk. We spin it today to celebrate the 76th Birthday of lead singer and keyboardist, Ralf Hütter. Happy Birthday Ralf ! The non album single was released August 3, 1983 on the EMI label and produced by bandmembers Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider, who wrote the song as well. It peaked at #60 in Australia, #49 in West Germany, #27 in Finland, #24 in New Zealand, #22 in the UK, #20 in Ireland, #6 in Sweden, and #4 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart. Our example is the 12" UK release with the long version on Side I and two shorter versions on Side 2.

Our second selection comes to us via Los Angeles based heavy metal band, Quiet Riot. "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" was released in 1984 on the Pasha label and produced by Spencer Proffer. It peaked at #59 in Australia, #51 on Billboard's Hot 100, #50 in Canada, #13 on the Mainstream Rock Charts. The tune appeared on the band's fourth studio album, Condition Critical and is a cover of Slade's 1972 original. It is b/w "Bad Boy" also from Critical Condition. We feature it today to mark 2 years since the death of drummer, Frankie Banali, who passed away at age 68, from pancreatic cancer.
