Good morning gang and welcome to the Saturday's Singles Soundtrack edition. Our first Soundtrack Single comes to us via the 1988 American comedy film directed by Bud S. Smith, Johnny Be Good. The movie stars Anthony Michael Hall, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Gleason, Steve James, Jennifer Tilly and Uma Thurman. Hall plays a high school football quarterback who is being pursued by teams across the country. The soundtrack album boasts an impressive roster with the likes of KIX, Fiona, Saga, Ted Nugent, and this band Judas Priest, with our first selection, their cover of  Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode. The track,  which also appeared on their 11th studio album, Ram It Down, reached #64 in the UK and #48 on the Mainstream Rock charts. It's B-side is  "Rock You All Around the World" from their 10th record, Turbo.

Our second single comes from the 1989 teenage romantic comedy film, Say Anything. It was the directorial debut of Cameron Crowe and stars John Cusack, Ione Skye, and John Mahone. The story centers around Cusack's character Lloyd Dobler who falls for valedictorian Diane Court  (Ione Skye) following their high school graduation. The soundtrack features songs from Nancy Wilson, Living Color,  Joe Satriani, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cheap Trick, Depeche Mode and our second single, "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel. ( It also appeared on Peter's 5th LP, So.) The tune reached # 26 on the Hot 100 and #1 on the Mainstream Rock charts, with the song "Skankin' To The Beat" by Fishbone as it's B-side.
