Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning gang and welcome back to Saturday's Singles, a Birthday edition. First up on our calendar of cake is Abbott, Texas native singer, songwriter, outlaw country musician, political activist and actor, Willie Nelson. Happy 90th Birthday Willie ! He was born in 1933 Ira Doyle Nelson and Myrle Marie and over the course of his 7 decade career has released over 180 charting singles, but it is his song, "Georgia On My Mind" that is turning on our table today. The single was released March 25, 1978 on the Columbia label and produced by Sid Feller. The tune was written by Hoagy Carmichael, with lyrics by Stuart Gorrell, and originally recorded by Carmichael, but made most famous by Ray Charles. Nelson\s version, which hails from his album, Stardust, reached #86 in Canada, #84 on the Hot 100, #16 on the Canadian Adult Contemporary charts, and #1 on both Hot Country Songs and the Canadian Country charts. It's flip side is "On the Sunny Side Of The Street", also from Stardust.

Our second single is also from Willie, I mean if turning 90 isn't a reason for a double shot of singles, I don't know what is. "How Do You Feel About Foolin' Around" by Willie and Kris Kristofferson, was released October 1984 on the Columbia label and produced by Booker T. Jones. It 's parent album is Music from Songwriter and it serves as the soundtrack to the 1984 film, Songwriter, starring Nelson and Kristofferson. The comedy movie is loosely based on Willie's life. The single reached #46 on the Hot Country Songs survey and is b/w "Eye of the Storm", which also hails from Music From Songwriter.
