SITVA - JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE/ OTIS REDDING - HISTORICAL PERFORMANCES RECORDED AT THE MONTEREY INTERNATIONAL POP FESTIVAL

Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember singer, songwriter, record producer, arranger, and talent scout Otis Redding, on what would have been his 79th Birthday. He died December 10, 1967, age 26, in a plane crash that also killed  four members of the Bar-Kays (guitarist Jimmy King, tenor saxophonist Phalon Jones, organist Ronnie Caldwell, and drummer Carl Cunningham; their valet, Matthew Kelly; and the pilot Richard Fraser). To honor their legacy we spotlight this live split album from Redding and Teh Jimi Hendrix Experience, Historic Performances Recorded at the Monterey International Pop Festival.  Historic Performances Recorded at the Monterey International Pop Festival was recorded in 1967 and then released August 26, 1970 on Reprise Records and produced by  Lou Adler and John Phillips. Side one sees Jimi set 'em up and Otis knocks 'em down on Side two.
