Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Great Monday morning gang and welcome back to Stuck In They Vinyl Again . Today we remember Florida born singer-songwriter and poet, Jim Morrison (James Douglas Morrison), on this, the 52nd anniversary of his death. He was born December 8, 1943 to parents George Stephen Morrison, a rear admiral in the United States Navy and his Mother, Clara Virginia. On this day in 1971 he was found dead in a bathtub in the apartment of his Paris home. No autopsy was performed and the official cause of death was listed as "heart attack induced by respiratory problems". He was just 27. During his lifetime, he and The Doors (Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, John Densmore) released 6 studio albums and had been working on their seventh while Morrison was in Paris, hoping he would return to the States and contribute to it . That album, Other Voices, was released three months after his death, on October 18, 1971 on the Elektra label. It reached #36 in Canada and #31 on the Billboard 200 and is produced by longtime Doors producer, Bruce Botnick and the band. On it keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist, Robby Krieger, trade off on lead vocals. "Tightrope Ride" (#71 Hot 100, #56 Canada, #27 Netherlands) and "Ships w/Sails" (Did not chart) were released as singles. Among the guest musician's list is bassist, Jack Conrad, who passed away in 2017.
