Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today we remember Tacoma, Washington native, singer and actor, Bing Crosby (Harry Lillis Crosby Jr.) , on what would have been his 120th Birthday. He was born in 1903 to parents Harry Lowe Crosby, a bookkeeper, and Catherine Helen. Bing passed away October 14, 1977, age 74, from a massive heart attack. He had flown to Spain for a game of golf and after playing said, "That was a great game of golf, fellas. Let’s go have a Coca-Cola." He collapsed as he was walking to the Clubhouse. With him in mind we spotlight this 1956 Brunswick Records release, Songs I Wish I Had Sung the First Time Around. The LP sees Bing belt out classic pop standards from the likes of Al Jolson, Nat King Cole, Fats Waller, and more. Bing is backed by Jack Pleis and his orchestra.
