Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we find ourselves celebrating the 51st Birthday of hip hop and R&B artist Bobby Brown. Happy Birthday Bobby ! With him in mind we spotlight his debut solo album, King Of Stage. King Of Stage was released December 9, 1986 on the MCA label and produced by Larry Blackmon, Robert Brookins, Paul Jackson, Jr., Michael Lovesmith, John Luongo, and Larry White. It peaked at #88 on the Billboard 200 and #12 on the Top R&B Albums chart. Three singles were released ; "Girlfriend" (# 57 Hot 100, #1 Soul) , "Girl Next Door" (#31 Soul) and "Seventeen" (failed to chart). The record was released about a year after Brown left the groundbreaking boy band New Edition, of which, he was a founding member. Bobby was 16 years old at the time he embarked on his solo career. As it goes with record collecting, sometimes you get a record with no cover. I think this one was inside of another cover but I'll include a stock photo, just so we know what it looks like.
