Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Wilmington, North Carolina native, vocalist, guitarist, fiddler, and bandleader, Charlie Daniels, on this, the 2nd anniversary of his passing. He died in 2020, age 83 of a hemorrhagic stroke. With him in mind, we spotlight his 11th studio album (and 8th for the Charlie Daniels Band), Full Moon. Full Moon was released July 18, 1980 on Epic Records and produced by John Boylan. The LP peaked at #100 in Australia, #40 on Canada's RPM chart, #11 on the Billboard 200, #9 on Canada's Country charts, and #5 on the Top Country albums chart in the US, where it has been certified Platinum. Three singles were released ; "In America" (#62 Canada Country, #13 US Country, #11 Hot 100), "The Legend of Wooley Swamp" (#80 Hot 100, #57 Canada Country, #31 US Country), and "Carolina (I Remember You)" (#44 Hot 100, #20 Canada Country). The album is dedicated to the memory of Tommy Caldwell, bassist for the Marshall Tucker Band, who had died a couple of months before the album's release.
Daniels has been in the news lately, or rather his gravesite, as it has been vandalized twice. Previously someone had glued a military ID to the marker and more recently someone stole a dogwood sapling & watering bag. Patrols are said to be increased and video surveillance will be installed.
