Good Monday morning gang and welcome back to the Labor Day edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember California born vocalist and guitarist, Tom Fogerty, best known for his work with jis Brother John in Creedence Clearwater Revival, on this, the 31st anniversary of his passing. Tom died in 1990, age 48 after contracting AIDs from a blood donation that had not been screened. What a shame. To mark the occasion, we spotlight CCR's final album, Mardi Gras. The LP was released April 11, 1972 on the Fantasy label and produced by the bandmembers. It peaked at #12 on the Billboard 200, #10 in Germany, #5 in Norway, and #2 in the Netherlands. "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" (#36 UK, #6 Hot 100, #5 Cash Box, #1 Canada, Switzerland) and "Someday Never Comes" (#25 Hot 100) were released as singles. The latter is the last single released by the band. This album also marked the group's only outing as a trio because Tom had left the band the previous year to pursue a solo career. So we remember him in absentia.
