Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning faithful readers and welcome back to the Monday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again . Today our record of choice is this EP by Minneapolis hard rock band Dare Force. Makin' Our Own Rules was released in 1985 on DME Records. The four song record packs a punch and it's no wonder than the group opened for the likes of KISS, Ted Nugent, Triumph, Kansas, UFO, the Joe Perry Project, and Ratt. They released 3 full albums in the 80s. The same year this EP was released they also put it out as a full length album, adding 6 more songs. We bought this EP in 2018 and inside we found 6 identical promo photos for a band called, 'High Risk', out of Raleigh, North Carolina. We got to looking at the members of that band, and thought they looked a lot like the members of Dare Force, but could find no relationship between the two (at least on the internet_), so I contacted Dare Force on their Facebook page and got ahold of lead guitarist and founding member Johnny O'Neil, and we had this exchange :

Me : Hi there. I recently purchased a lot heavy metal records on Ebay. Among them was one by Dare Force, Makin' Our Own Rules. Inside the album was 6 identical promo photos for a band called High Risk. I got to looking at the photos and thought some of the guys in Dare Force might be in High Risk. Am I on the something or am I seeing things ? If there's a story here, I'd love to hear it. I'm A sucker for the story ...
Johnny : Hi Ziggy. that is just a weird fluke. No connection between Dare Force, or any of it's members past or present, and a band called "High Risk". Never even heard of them. BTW, Dare Force is clsoe to completing our first CD in nearly thirty years! Be on the lookout for the release of "Callin' Your Name". Hopefully by early July. We guarantee it'll kicj your arse ! Cheers, Dare Force/ Johnny O'Neil.
Me : Thanks for getting back to me. Some Dare Force fan must have stashed his promo photos in there and forgot about them. I look forward to hearing the new stuff ! Have a great day ...
