Good morning, Thursday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Manhattan born composer and conductor, Marvin Hamlisch, on what would have been his 78th Birthday. He passed away in 2012, age 68, from respiratory arrest, with hypertension and cerebral hypoxia. He is one of only sixteen people to win Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards (EGOT) and one of only two of those people to also receive a Pulitzer Prize. During his six decade career he conducted orchestras and scored theatre and film productions, but long before all of that, he got his start as the rehearsal pianist of Funny Girl with Barbra Streisand, who he became lifelong friends with. So with him in mind, we spotlight Funny Girl (The Original Sound Track Recording) by Barbra Streisand and Omar Sharif. The LP was released in August 1968 on the Columbia Masterworks label and produced by Jack Gold. It peaked at #12 on the Billboard 200, #11 in the UK, #10 in Canada, and #4 in Australia. The title track (#44 Hot 100) and "My Man" (#19 Easy Listening) were released as singles.
