Good morning Thursday people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl again. Today we remember Hiram "Hank" Williams, The Hillbilly Shakespeare, on what would have been his 97th Birthday. He died at the tender age of 29, on New Year's Day, 1953, while traveling to his next show in Canton, Ohio. His death was listed as heart failure brought on by prescription drug abuse and alcoholism. Yet still his influence shines and has inspired many the career of many a musician. It's a downright shame that the Opry hasn't re-instated him. (I'll provide a link, with more about that, below.) To honor his legacy, we spotlight this 1968 MGM Records release, The Spirit Of Hank Williams.
