STUCK IN THE VINYL AGAIN - KATE SMITH - THE GLORIOUS VOICE OF KATE SMITH

Great Monday morning gang and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again and the first day of May. Today we remember  Greenville, Virginia native and contralto vocalist, Kate Smith, on what would have been her 116th Birthday. She was born in 1907 to parents, Charlotte 'Lottie' Yarnell and William Herman Smith, who were Kate's earliest musical influences as her Father sang in the choir in church and her Mother played piano. During the course of her 5 decade career, she excelled in radio, television, and had many charting singles and albums. She passed away June 17, 1986, age 79, from respiratory arrest . Today her 1966 Pickwick album, The Glorious Voice Of Kate Smith, is turning on our table.
