Good morning, morning people and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we joyfully celebrate the 70th Birthday of founding member and alto saxophonist, Dennis "D.T." Thomas, of Kool & the Gang fame. Happy Birthday Dennis ! Spirit Of The Boogie was released in August of 1975 on the De-Lite label and produced by Kool & The Gang. It reached #48 on the Top LPs & Tapes chart, #18 on the Top Jazz LPs chart, and #5 on the US Top Soul LPs chart. The disc gave birth to two singles, the title track (#35 Hot 100, #1 R&B) and "Caribbean Festival" (#55 Hot 100, #6 R&B). The album also includes the track "Jungle Jazz" which is an improvisational version of "Jungle Boogie".
