Good morning faithful readers and welcome back to the Thursday edition of Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we remember Oildale, California native, outlaw country musician, guitarist, and vocalist, Merle Haggard, on this, the 7th anniversary of his death and what would have been his 86th Birthday. He was born in 1937 to parents Flossie Mae and James Francis Haggard, and passed away on his 79th Birthday in 2006, age 79, from complications of pneumonia. With him in mind, we spotlight his eighth studio album, Pride In What I Am. The LP was released February 3, 1969 on the Capitol label and produced by Ken Nelson. It reached $189 on the Billboard 200 and #11 on the Top Country Albums chart. The disc's sole single, "I Take A Lot Of Pride In What I Am", peaked at #3 on the Hot Country Songs survey and #1 on the Canadian Country charts.
