Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. It was on this very day in 1980, that Macon, Georgia based Capricorn Records filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The label, started in 1969 by Phil Walden and Frank Fenter, is credited with inventing the Southern rock genre, and was home to great acts such as Elvin Bishop, the Allman Brothers Band, the Charlie Daniels Band, the Marshall Tucker Band, and Grinder Switch. Over the next decade the company would churn out nine platinum albums, seventeen gold albums, and five gold singles. This double compilation, entitled Peaches "Pick Of The Crop", was released in 1974 and features some of the aforementioned bands like the Allman Brothers, with both Gregg and Duanne having solo songs as well, Dickey Betts, Wet Willie, Percy Sledge, Johnny Jenkins, White Witch, Grinder Switch, Captain Beyond, and more. This is truly an enjoyable listen from beginning to end.
