Good Tuesday morning to you all and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again . When I look at both my Sesame Street and Transformers calendars they tell me today is National Teachers Day. Who am I to argue with toys and cartoons ? In light of this new information we humbly submit today's record of choice. The film Teachers is an 1984 satirical comedy written by W. R. McKinney, directed by Arthur Hiller, and starring Nick Nolte as Social Studies teacher Alex Jurel , JoBeth Williams as lawyer Lisa Hammond, Ralph Macchio as the student Eddie Pilikian, and Judd Hirsch as Vice Principal Roger Rubell. It revolves around a high school that is being sued by a student who was given a diploma despite the fact the student is illiterate, and the fallout that follows. The movie was released October 5, 1984 and a month later on November 1, 1984 the Capitol Records soundtrack was released featuring .38 Special, Night Ranger, Freddie Mercury, the Motels and more. The lead track, "Teacher, Teacher" by . 38 Special reached #25 on the Hot 100, while Bob Seger's contribution, "Understanding" peaked at #17 and Joe Cocker's "Edge of a Dream" landed at #69.
