Dark Clouds Rain Down Tears Washing Away Swirling Colors From The Clown's Face..
Good morning record enthusiasts and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. According to the National Event Calendar, today is National Walter Day and that's good enough for us . Maybe your favorite Walter is a Disney, a Cronkite, a Payton, or Matthau. Whatever the case, they are plenty to choose from and today we choose Queens, New York native, singer songwriter, and guitarist, Walter Egan. He was born July 12, 1948 (age 74) and over the course of his 6 decade career, he has released over 25 albums, but it is his sophomore release, Not Shy, turning on our table currently. The LP was released in 1978 on the Columbia label land produced by Egan, Lindsey Buckingham and Richard Dashut. It peaked at #44 on the Billboard 200 and him his two most successful singles, "Magnet and Steel" (#60 France, #32 Australia, #18 Billboard Adult Contemporary, #9 Canada, Cash Box, #8 Hot 100, #7 New Zealand) and "Hot Summer Nights" (#56 Canada, #55 Hot 100, #1 Argentina). The former was inspired by Stevie Nicks, who also provides backing vocals on the song and album. The latter was covered by Gram Parsons on his Grievous Angel record and furthermore earned him a songwriting credit on Eminem's 2009 song. "We Made You", as producer Dr. Dre felt the bass line had inspired the track. Buckingham and Nicks aren't the only Fleetwood alumni as the disc features Mick Fleetwood as well. Our copy is a white label Demonstration - Not For Sale copy, that we got from J.R.'s Junk Trunk, years ago.
