I only go there when I sleep
That place where all the familiar things creep and crowd around me.
Drowning out what comes crashing in
I heard a voice crawl across my skin
Per usual I didn't listen
For those seconds or eons I slept
You stood there beside what we'd built
What you'd kept I had forgotten
You saw fortified walls
I felt downtrodden.
